Sandalwood essential oil is steam-distilled from the heartwood of the sandalwood tree. It is creamy, soft and woody — the scent of chandan, used for centuries in the tilak and the temple.
Ayurveda holds that fragrance — gandha — touches the mind, and that different scents bring different doshas back into balance.

Sandalwood Essential Oil in Amore
Sandalwood essential oil gives our Sleep Essential Oil Blend a creamy, woody softness, and is the base of The Earth Ritual solid perfume with cardamom. On the wrists and neck, chandan stays close and calm — in Ayurvedic tradition it is sheeta (cooling) and Pitta-Kapha pacifying, which is why it has been applied as a tilak for centuries.
