Cardamom essential oil is steam-distilled from the dried seeds of Elettaria cardamomum — elaichi. Its scent is warm, sweet, spicy and refreshing. In Ayurveda, Ela is described as sheeta in potency and balancing to all three doshas.
Ayurveda holds that fragrance — gandha — touches the mind, and that different scents bring different doshas back into balance.
